What is plastisol?
Very tough stuff
Plastisol is a PVC paint covering that dries to a smooth, durable coating. Our plastisol-coated steel sheet is made from hot-dipped galvanised steel substrate with an outer layer of plastisol that’s embossed with a leather-grain finish. This a brilliant all-rounder, suitable for use both inside and out. You get all the strength and longevity of galvanised steel with coating that’s incredibly versatile, stylish and tough. Originally developed for use in cladding and roofing, plastisol-coated metal is fast becoming one of engineering’s most sought-after materials. We supply ours in a variety of colours, all in 0.70mm thick, but we can offer different gauges if you let us know, plus we can cut your plastisol-coated galvanised steel to exactly the size you need. If you need your sheet metal to look good, resist colour fading and be amazingly resistant to corrosion, this is the one.
Colours available: White (00E55), Goosewing Grey (10A05), Hamlet (RAL 9002), Albatross (18B17), Merlin Grey (18B25), Moorland Green (12B21), Wedgewood Blue (18C37), Heritage Green (RAL 6002), Mushroom (10B19), Ocean Blue (18C39), Anthracite (RAL 7016), Olive Green (12B27), Sargasso (RAL 5003), Black (00E53), Juniper Green (12B29) and Vandyke Brown (08B29).
Good for: Construction, cladding, roofing, partitions, heating and ventilation, garage doors, garden planters, panels, interior and exterior design.
How it’s made: First, steel sheet is bathed in a hot bath of zinc, which toughens it against moisture and the elements. This process is galvanising and it’s what gives us galvanised steel. Next, the 200-micron PVC paint, Plastisol, is applied to the metals’ surface in its liquid form. To finish, the Plastisol outer layer is embossed with a leather-grain pattern. The outer plastic coating combined with the galvanisation produces a material that is equipped to resist the elements and any resulting corrosion.
Benefits:
- Superior corrosion resistance
- Excellent formability
- High resistance to abrasion
