What is stucco aluminium sheet?

As the surface is already dull, it ages far better than smooth aluminium. You might recognise the “orange peel” stucco pattern from travel trunks and vanity cases, and it’s also used extensively in interior décor. How it’s made:

Aluminium is made when aluminium ore (bauxite) is mined from the earth and refined in a bath of lime and caustic soda. This allows the extraction of aluminium oxide, which is filtered, heated and combined with electricity and carbon to form liquid aluminium. The liquid aluminium is moulded into ingots then rolled out into sheets, which, in the case of stucco aluminium sheet, are then embossed with the ‘pebbly’ pattern.
